6/14/2010 Change to American Citizen Emergency Phone Number

This message is being sent to advise American citizens in Libya of a change in the Embassy’s emergency telephone numbers. 

 

As of June 15, during Embassy working hours (Sunday-Thursday 9 AM – 5 PM except Libyan and American holidays), the new emergency number is (021) 337-3250.  Dialing from outside of Libya, the number is (+218) 21-337-3250. After working hours, our emergency number is (091) 220-5207 or (+218) 91-220-5207 (if dialing from outside of Libya).  These phone numbers are reserved only for American citizens with emergencies and are monitored at all times. Please make a note of these numbers.

 

The Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy is located in the Ben Ashour neighborhood on Jeraba Street behind the former Libyan-Swiss Clinic. Our phone number is 021-337-3100 during business hours.  In an emergency involving American citizens during working hours, (Sunday-Thursday 9am-5pm except Libyan and American holidays), please call (021) 337-3250.  Outside of Libya, the number is (+218) 21-337-3250. After working hours, the number is (091) 220-5207 or (+218) 91-220-5207.
