Selective Service

The Selective Service System is a means by which the United States maintains information on those potentially subject to military conscription. All males between the ages of 18 to 25 are required by law to register within 30 days of their 18th birthday.

Registration for Selective Service is also required for various federal programs and benefits, including student loans, job training, federal employment, and naturalization.

In order to register, males who have attained the age of 18 years may bring their U.S. passport and Social Security Number and fill out the application for Selective Service registration.  They may also register on-line at www.sss.gov, where other information on Selective Service and registration may also be obtained.
