Civil Society Showcase Announcement - Tripoli

Civil Society Showcase - Tripoli

Office of Public Affairs

Tripoli University’s Program for Rebuilding Libya, the United States Embassy and the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) are proud to announce that the city’s largest Civil Society Showcase will take on December 13-14, 2011. This exhibition will bring together Libyan civil society organizations and international non-governmental organizations for the first time.

The showcase consists of two days of events. The first day will feature series of presentations and workshops to help Libyan NGOs learn how to write grant proposals, navigate the Libyan regularity environment impacting small civil society organizations, and to understand the critical role of civil society in delivering capacity-building and expertise-building programs. International NGOs that are active in Libya will deliver short presentations on the process of applying for grants and an overview of their funding priorities.

The second day of the showcase consists of three presentations. The presentations are: using open-licensed software to manage your organization’s operations, the history of civil society organizations, and the media perspective on the role of civil society. Presentations on the main stage will be open to the general public. Attendance for workshops will require advanced registration in order to maintain an interactive learning environment.

The showcase will be a great opportunity to learn about civil society organizations operating in your community.  This event is open to the public and there is no charge for admission.  All events will be held on the grounds of Tripoli University’s Language Center.
