U.S. Embassy participates in Remembrance Day Service

 

Tobruk – Lt. Colonel Brian Linvill, the U.S. Defense Attaché at the U.S. Embassy, participated in Remembrance Day ceremonies last week.  On November 5th, 2009, Lt. Colonel Linvill visited the British Cemetery in Benghazi to pay tribute to Allied soldiers killed in the Second World War.  

On November 7th, 2009, Lt. Colonel Linvill went to the World War II Cemeteries in Tobruk to remember soldiers who were killed during the fighting between Allied and Axis forces.

Lt. Colonel Linvill placed flowers at the Commonwealth, French, German, and British cemeteries, as well as at the graves of two American volunteers who were killed while attending to wounded French soldiers at the Battle of Bir Hakim.

U.S. Embassy Participates in Tripoli Education Fair

Tripoli - The U.S. Embassy Public Affairs team met with prospective Libyan students at the annual EducationLibya Expo at the Tripoli International Fairgrounds.

Students met with the Embassy's Educational Advisor and learned about opportunities for U.S. study.  Ambassador Cretz and the United States Consul addressed students and families to discuss bilateral educational cooperation.  Read More
