*When this holiday falls on a Friday, the holiday is observed on the preceding Thursday. When it falls on a Saturday, the holiday is observed on the following Sunday. (See 3 FAM 2337.2)
** For holidays designated by law to occur on Monday (i.e., Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr., Washington’s Birthday, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Columbus Day), the employees at a duty post outside the United States whose basic workweek is other than Monday Through Friday, and for whom Monday is a regularly scheduled workday, the legal public holiday is the first workday of the workweek in which the Monday designated for the observance of such holiday falls. *** Libyan holidays falling on Friday or Saturday will not affect the weekday work schedule
